How to Crop a PDF
Open Your PDF
Drop the file into the upload area. The first page appears in a large preview with a crop frame around it.
Set the Crop Area
Drag the frame's handles, type the margins in millimetres, or let “Remove white margins” find the content for you. Flip through the pages to check the frame fits everywhere.
Crop & Download
Choose whether to crop all pages, only the current page or a page range, then click “Crop PDF”. The file stays loaded for further tweaks.
When Cropping a PDF Helps
Wide white margins make documents tiny on phones and e-readers. Cropping them away lets the text fill the screen – perfect for reading papers, ebooks and manuals on the go. You can also cut off scanner borders, black edges, crop marks and bleed from print files, or cut a PDF down to a single chart or figure you want to reuse in a presentation.
The crop is stored in the page settings of the PDF (its crop box). Text, images and vector graphics are not re-rendered, so everything stays sharp and searchable and the file size hardly changes. Pages that are rotated are cropped exactly as you see them in the preview.
Want to tidy up further? Rotate pages, reorder or delete pages, or split scanned double pages down the middle.
Frequently Asked Questions about Cropping PDFs
Can I crop only some pages of a PDF?
Yes. Under “Apply to”, choose all pages, only the page currently shown in the preview, or a page range such as 1-3, 7. All other pages stay unchanged.
How does “Remove white margins” work?
The page shown in the preview is rendered and scanned for the outermost non-white pixels. The crop frame is then placed tightly around the content. Check the other pages with the page arrows and adjust the frame if needed.
Is the cut-off content deleted?
No. Cropping hides the area outside the frame in every PDF viewer, but the data stays in the file. To permanently remove sensitive text, use a redaction tool instead.
Does cropping reduce the quality?
No. Only the visible page area changes. Text, images and vector graphics are kept exactly as they were, and text stays selectable and searchable.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The preview and the cropped PDF are created locally in your browser. Your document is never sent to a server.
